JENNIFER SCHINDLER-RUWISCH, DrPH
Jennifer Schindler-Ruwisch is currently an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Fairfield University. She completed her DrPH in Health Behavior at The George Washington University where she focused on breastfeeding initiation and duration in the WIC population. Her breastfeeding specific research has focused on breastfeeding barriers, particularly among WIC recipients and African-American women. She hopes to continue this line of breastfeeding work and to highlight external factors and biases that drive inequity. Previously, partnering with WIC in Washington, DC she is now establishing collaborations in her new CT community with New Haven, Bridgeport, and Norwalk WIC agencies to continue community-based breastfeeding work. She is passionate about health equity and social/environmental determinants of health. In addition to being a breastfeeding researcher and advocate, she is also a mother of an active two-year old boy, who gave her a year and a half of personal breastfeeding experience.
